Guitar Shorty, aka David Kearney, mixes social commentary with traditional blues themes on this, his second release on the Alligator label.

Shorty provides the vocals and lead guitar that evidence his many years as a working musician with such greats as Ray Charles, Guitar Slim, T Bone Walker, and Sam Cooke. Shorty also had a hand in writing four of the twelve tracks on the CD. The lyrics range from thought-provoking We The People to humorous I Got Your Number.

Though he keeps the vocals and solos to himself, Shorty is ably assisted by an excellent band.

If you prefer electric blues with a rockin’ edge, then this offering by Guitar Shorty should measure up.
